Madison
County Executive Airport Authority Chairman Tom Sharp, Jr
was recognized with an award of appreciation from the
Prototype Integration Facility- Redstone Arsenal Friday
August 18, 2006 during an open house and ribbon cutting for
the new Yulista JVYS Company Hangar at The Madison County
Executive Airport. A presentation was made by Danny
Featherston, the Program Manager of the Government Owned and
Government Operated Prototype Integration Facility (PIF), a
division of the Engineering Directorate of the Aviation and
Missile Research, Development and Engineering Center (AMRDEC). |

Tom Sharp
Jr, founder of the Madison County Executive Airport (MDQ),
rose to the challenge of the time critical need to expand
the facilities of PIF- AMRDEC located at Redstone Arsenal.
Yulista JVYS, a prime contractor, needed space to perform
technical work vital to solutions that help keep warfighters
safe and efficient.
Working with the
PIF and JVYS, the airport authority completed construction
of the 14,000 sq ft hangar/office in record time, including
the unique features required by the government.
Infrastructure improvements such as additional water
pressure and specialized utilities were made at the airport.
Firefighting capabilities needed to be in place. A
contractor who could complete the job as soon as possible
had to be found. Premier Construction of Athens, Alabama
handled the hangar project. Everything was ready within the
time limit of six months.
The inscription
on the plaque stated, "In sincere appreciation of your
dedicated service to the Prototype Integration Facility,
Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. Your outstanding efforts in
support of the hangar facility have enabled the PIF to excel
in its contributions to the Army and its Global War on
Terror."
Plans are
underway to add additional hangars to the Yulista JVYS
complex at the airport. |
